About Me

Denise Clarke opened DC Communications in January 1993, after 10 years of public relations and public affairs work in Washington, DC. She put her business on hiatus when she opened and ran the FleishmanHillard Austin office from 1996 to 2001. A survivor of the dot-com boom and bust, she returned to her independent roots and re-opened DC Communications.
A 30-year communications veteran, Denise brings significant PR experience and relationships to her clients. A testament to her work is the long tenure she has had with many of her clients. She hangs her University of Missouri Journalism School degree on her office wall – a proud graduate of the world’s greatest J-School, which set the foundation for her PR career.
A wine enthusiast, Denise has studied and passed several certifications, including Certified Sommelier, Certified Specialist of Wine and Certified Specialist of Spirits. She is currently studying to take her Certified Wine Educator exam. She puts her wine knowledge to work for several wine PR clients.
Denise’s other passion is health and fitness. She was an original board member of the non-profit ACTIVE Life, served several years on the Austin Independent School District School Health Advisory Council, and was a founding member of the wellness committee of her son’s middle school.
A graduate of the 1998 class of Leadership Austin, Denise proudly calls Austin home.
